The Austrian Ministry of Finance has recently commented on the taxability of cryptocurrencies. How should Bitcoin, for example, be considered in terms of taxation when it comes to private assets? Unfortunately, this recent classification is currently limited to Bitcoins only and does not apply to other cryptocurrencies. The tax treatment of Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) is also not yet part of this recent announcement. The tax consulting firm Enzinger, owned by Natalie Enzinger, has been addressing the topic and has already made a number of considerations on ICOs and taxes related to them.
